Visa Types
F-1 Visa π
The most common visa for international students enrolled in academic degree programs at a U.S. college or university.
- Full-time study required
- Work: Limited on-campus; CPT/OPT options
- I-20 issued by school
J-1 Visa π
For students, scholars, or professors under exchange programs sponsored by institutions or governments.
- Work: Training or research allowed
- DS-2019 required
- May require returning to home country
M-1 Visa π§
Designed for vocational or nonacademic programs (e.g., technical schools, mechanical training).
- Less flexible than F-1
- Work only with permission
- Strict timelines

- Receive Your I-20 or DS-2019 from Clemson
- Pay the SEVIS Fee ($350)
- Complete DS-160 Form online
